Welcome Letter

Logansport High School has a rich tradition of excellence that spans over 150 years. This tradition started with our first graduates at the Mesodian Opera House in 1871 with three students, Ann Covalt, Sallie Horn, and Sadie Clendenning.

As a fellow Berry and 1991 graduate, I am truly honored to be in the twelfth year as principal of my alma mater. From Felix the Cat to the nickname Berries, graduates of LHS have always taken a lot of pride in the uniqueness of being a member of the vast LHS Alumni.

LHS is known as a leader in academics, career preparedness, fine arts, and athletics, where our students thrive in all areas. We are proud of our consistently rigorous and challenging curriculum. LHS and the attached Century Career Center work together to build a dynamic comprehensive high school campus that provides our diverse student body success towards their graduation pathway. We strive for Berries to either be enrolled, employed, or enlisted when leaving 1 Berry Lane.  Due to strong higher educational partnerships with Indiana University, Ivy Tech Community College, Ball State,  and Vincennes, LHS students earned over 3000 dual credits last year, at a potential college tuition savings of over $1,000,000.

LHS is an Early College High School. This model operates as a small school designed to prepare students for postsecondary success. Students earn a diploma and up to two years of credit toward a bachelor’s or associate degree while in high school. While open to all students, Early College targets low-income young people, first-generation college students, and English language learners—all statically underrepresented in higher education.

On behalf of our Administrative Team, we look forward to working with our great staff to provide a safe and positive learning environment and a wonderful educational experience for our students. The success of our students depends on the active environment of the entire school community and parents. I am confident the LHS Class of 2023 will be college and career-ready and leaders well beyond the halls of LHS.

Have a great year, and Go, Berries!
